Safety and Quality of Care

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) conducts an accreditation survey of Saint Louis University Hospital. The purpose of the survey is to evaluate the organization's compliance with nationally established JCAHO standards. The survey results are used to determine whether, and the conditions under which, accreditation should be awarded to Saint Louis University Hospital. JCAHO standards deal with organization and safety quality-of-care issues and the safety of the environment in which care is provided. Patients, family members, community representatives and employees of Saint Louis University Hospital have the right to notify Joint Commission regarding any concern about the quality of care provided, safety of care provided, or safety of the environment in which care is provided. Anyone believing that he or she has pertinent and valid information should notify JCAHO.
